At Nursery 1, children begin to develop and acquire increased awareness of numbers, engage in concepts and processes of math and science. They also begin to explore letter sounds and alphabets and develop a keen interest in reading and different types of stories. Their gross and fine motor development abilities continue to grow as they become more independent in their daily tasks. They are also more actively engaged in group activities during play time and are able to accomplish small tasks by themselves.
At Pegasus, our Nursery 1 program continue to provide learning experiences through different forms of discovery and exploration through various inquiry experiences in school. We will continue to help your child progress and develop towards achieving these focused areas of competencies:
Your child will be introduced to alphabets and their phonological sounds. Through books, music, songs and rhymes, your child will enjoy reading and develop an interest in writing as well.
Classification, sorting and recalling information and concepts are various areas that children at this age develop.
Your child is able to demonstrate self help abilities, able to follow routines and shows increased independence in school. Self awareness and participation in classroom activities increases at this age.
Higher levels of competency in gross motor abilities and fine motor skills increase. Demonstrates the use of small muscles to complete tasks and self help. There is also displayed eye hand coordination for building, forming and constructing activities.
Pegasus International Preschool also provides expressive art and various types of musical experiences for Nursery 1 children to explore, create and to encourage their creativity and imagination.
