At Nursery 1, children begin to develop and acquire wider range of numbers, engage in concepts and processes of math and science. They begin to explore letter sounds and alphabets and develop a keen interest in reading and explore different types of stories. Their gross and fine motor develops progressively as they become more independent in their daily tasks. They get more actively engaged in group activities during play time and are able to accomplish small tasks by themselves.
At Pegasus, our Nursery 1 program continues to provide learning experiences through different forms of discovery and exploration through various inquiry processes in school. We will continue to help your child progress and develop towards achieving these focus areas of competencies:
Your child will be introduced to alphabets and their corresponding phonological sounds. Through books, music, songs and rhymes, your child will enjoy reading and develop an interest in writing as well.
Classification, sorting and recalling information and concepts are various areas that children at this age would develop.
Your child is able to demonstrate self-help abilities, follow routine and show increased level of independence in school. Self-awareness and participation in classroom activities increases at this age.
Higher levels of competency in gross motor abilities and fine motor skills would be evident. Demonstrating the use of small muscles to complete tasks and self-help. They would display eye hand coordination for building, forming and constructing activities.
